Dr. Fronza grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and graduated from York Community High School. He then graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a BA in Literatures in English. He returned home to Chicago to attend medical school at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. During this time he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society.
After completing a five year general surgery residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, Dr. Fronza pursued advanced training in gastrointestinal surgery. This was completed at Oregon Health & Science University under the mentorship of John G Hunter, MD, a pioneer in laparoscopic surgery. He acquired in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in the management of benign and malignant conditions of the foregut through minimally-invasive approaches.
Dr. Fronza is particularly interested in esophageal and gastric cancer, the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia, bariatric surgery, laparoscopic approaches to abdominal solid organs, and laparoscopic approaches to abdominal wall hernias. He has published extensively in the field of gastrointestinal surgery. He enjoys working with patients to treat their condition in a professional, personalized, and efficient manner.
