The patient is a 55-year-old male with hypertension and adult-onset diabetes mellitus. He presented with right groin pain. He had recently been seen in the emergency department and was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia. He had a history of laparoscopic gastric bypass.
BMI 42.97, 5’ 9”, 291#
Physical examination revealed a morbidly obese male with a reducible right inguinal hernia. Otherwise, his examination was unremarkable.
Surgery went well, and he was instructed to avoid lifting over 10 pounds for 2 weeks and to then return to normal activity as tolerated.
The patient did not follow up in the office.
